Selfless Boy Writes to Santa and Asks For Something Incredible

When 8 year-old Ryan Suffern wrote to Santa this year, he didn’t ask for a list of gifts or ANYTHING for himself. Instead, when he wrote to Santa, he asked for one simple thing: for his sister to stop being bullied.

The compassionate little boy was writing about his twin sister, Amber. She is twice his size and has been picked on relentlessly at school.

Mother didn’t realize the extent of the bullying; when she saw Ryan’s heartfelt letter, she was shocked. He compassionately asked Santa to help with this problem. He didn’t want to see his sister hurt any more.

Amber’s mother says she has attention-deficit (hyperactivity) disorder and other mental and mood disorders, not only that, but she is an emotional eater.

After seeing Ryan’s selfless letter, Karen Suffrern is determined to stop the bullying at her children’s school. She wants to teach others to be compassionate, so that no other kids feel like her Amber did.

“If my kids don’t call names and pick on others, I would expect other parents to teach their kids to be respectful, too,” she told CNN.

“There have been times my kids would point at others and say, “why is her hair so strange” and things like that, and I would say, ‘You know, people are different, and that is just the way they are.'”

Children need to be taught compassion and understanding, not judgment and fear.
